Custom Water Features & Fountains

The Feature Is the Show.
The Steel Is the Structure.

A waterfall looks like water and stone. Underneath, it's a reinforced concrete structure holding thousands of pounds of rock, resisting constant water load, and staying watertight through Arizona's heat cycles — decade after decade. That structure starts with steel.

Scholz Rebar has tied the cages behind Arizona's water features since 1984. Raised walls, waterfalls, fountains, scuppers, and spillways — we steel them to the engineered plans and integrate them with the pool shell, so the feature performs as one structure instead of a bolt-on that cracks at the seam.

What We Build the Bones For

Water Features We Steel

If it moves water and it's made of concrete, there's a cage inside it — and we've tied it.

Waterfalls & Sheer Descents

Feature walls and weir structures that carry rockwork and constant water flow — steeled to hold the load and the line.

Raised Feature Walls

Elevated walls with scuppers, sconces, and descents. Above the waterline they're retaining structures — and we steel them like it.

Fountains & Bubblers

Deck-level fountains, courtyard features, and bubbler shelves — small structures with the same watertight, engineered demands as the pool itself.

Scuppers & Spillways

Spa spillways and wall penetrations where water crosses structure. The steel detail around every opening is what keeps the wall from cracking there.

Grottos & Rock Features

Cave features and boulder work carry serious dead load. We tie the reinforced structure the rock artists build over.

Catch Basins & Troughs

The collection structures behind vanishing edges and perimeter overflows — steeled watertight, because the feature only works if the basin does.

Why It Matters

Where Water Features Fail —
And How Steel Prevents It

When a feature cracks, leaks, or settles, the problem is almost never the finish. It's the structure underneath — decided on day one, at the steel phase.

One Structure, Not Two

Features tied into the shell as a continuous cage move with the pool as one piece. Features added as an afterthought crack at the cold joint — the most common failure we see.

Load Taken Seriously

Rock, water, and height add up fast. We steel to the engineered detail for the actual loads — not to what a standard wall usually gets.

Details at the Openings

Every scupper, penetration, and weir interrupts the structure. Reinforcement around those openings is where careful tying separates a feature that lasts from one that leaks.

Who We Do This For

Adding Water to the Design?

Pool Builders & GCs

Selling features means guaranteeing them. Our steel is why the waterfall you promised still holds its line at the one-year walkthrough.

How We Work With Pros →

New Pool Builds

The best time to steel a feature is with the shell — one cage, one shoot, one structure. See how we handle full new-build steel.

Modern & Custom Designs

Vanishing edges, knife edges, and sculptural features live at the intersection of water and precision. That's our favorite place to work.

Send us the plans — feature walls, waterfalls, fountains, or all of the above — and we'll steel the structure the show depends on. Watertight starts with the cage.
